Dar es Salaam – Tanzanian long-distance runner Magdalena Crispine Shauri has made history after winning the bronze medal at the 2025 Chicago Marathon in the United States, marking one of the greatest moments in Tanzania’s athletics history.
Shauri clocked a personal best time of 2:18:03, setting a new national record for women’s marathon running in Tanzania. The remarkable performance not only earned her a podium finish but also placed her among the world’s elite marathoners.

Her latest achievement continues a pattern of excellence on the global stage. In September 2023, Shauri also finished third at the Berlin Marathon in Germany with a time of 2:18:41, establishing herself as one of Africa’s fastest women in marathon history.
