Dar es Salaam — The Tanzania national football team (Taifa Stars) suffered a 2–0 defeat to Iran in an international friendly match played on Sunday in Dubai.
The loss comes just a week after Tanzania’s World Cup qualifying exit following a 1–0 defeat to Zambia, deepening the disappointment among fans.

Iran’s goals were scored by Amirhossein Hosseinzaden from the penalty spot and Mohammed Moheb, sealing a comfortable win for the Asian side.
The result has sparked criticism toward Taifa Stars’ head coach, Hemed Morocco ‘Seleman’, with supporters expressing frustration over his team selection and omission of several key players.
Tanzania’s winless streak continues — the team has not recorded a victory since defeating Madagascar 2–1 in the CHAN tournament, where they were later eliminated in the quarter-finals.
The Tanzania Taifa Stars will now look to regroup and rebuild as they prepare for upcoming international fixtures.
