Tammy Abraham’s Wage Demands May Block Planned Return To Aston Villa

All expectations for Besiktas of Turkey striker, Tammy Abraham to seal a return to Aston Villa of England this month may not see the light of day after all, due to the Nigerian-born star’s wage demands.

Sports247 gathered that Abraham, a clubmate of Super Eagles’ captain, Wilfred Onyiyen Ndidi, had all along been touted for a return to Villa Park in the January transfer window, based on the success he had with the club in 2018.

However, latest information from the corridors at Villa indicates that Ndidi is very likely to meet the former Chelsea and Bristol City of England hitman at the Istanbul-based club when he returns from international duty.

Ndidi is currently away with Nigeria’s squad at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the former Leicester City of England midfielder would have started thinking that Abraham could be among teammates he might not meet on his return later this month.

That conjecture may not hold water any longer, as wage demands are set to scuttle a deal for Abraham, who was initially wooed for an international future with Nigeria but opted for England, because he was ‘more familiar with the country of his birth.’

This is despite a report by the UK’s Telegraph newspaper confirming that the tall striker, who is currently on-loan with Besiktas from AS Roma of Italy, is a target for Villa, where he scored 26 goals during his previous time with the team.

“The stumbling block for Villa could be Abraham’s wage demands, with the striker enjoying a bumper salary package shared between Roma and Besiktas,” the report revealed.
