Nottingham Forest of England striker, Taiwo Awoniyi is awaiting the arrival of a new rival for a starting spot in attack at the English Premier League club, Sports247 reports.

This is a sequel to a move that has been set in motion by fellow-Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen’s former club, SSC Napoli of Italy, to ship out one of their back-up attackers to join Awoniyi’s team.
The plan, though, comes at a point in which the injury-prone former Super Eagles invitee, who has previously played for clubs in Belgium and Germany, has failed to tie down a regular shirt at Forest.
Just this past weekend, while his compatriot, Ola Aina played 90 minutes for Forest in their goalless draw with Arsenal, Awoniyi sat on the home side’s bench all through the encounter.
It marked a continuum of hard days for Awoniyi, who was signed by Liverpool after excelling with the Golden Eaglets in winnning the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup in United Arab Emirates, but he never played an official game for The Reds.
Awoniyi will now have to brace for another tough challenge, as Forest are in advanced talks with Napoli for Lorenzo Lucca, who they got on loan from Maduka Okoye’s team, Udinese of Italy.
Interestingly, the report adds that Osimhen’s former club intend to buy Lucca from Udinese, where he arrived on loan last year, but Napoli will then send him out in a similar deal to Forest, with an option to buy.
Details of the report by TMW revealed, “Forest will pay €1m for the six-month loan, with Lucca’s permanent option set at €35m.
“The terms are similar to what Napoli settled with Udinese for Lucca last summer – €9m for the season-long loan and €26m to buy him outright.
“Benfica are also interested, though Forest are now best placed to sign Lucca once Napoli signs him outright from Udinese.”
