Taekwondo Body Woos Korea For Technical Centre

Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF) has issued a solemn appeal to the Ambassador of Korea to help in construction of a training centre in the country.

Information reaching sports247.ng indicates that the appeal was personally delivered by NTF president, Margaret Binga during her opening speech at the 9th Korea Ambassador’s Cup in Abuja.

Binga said she has a strong dream of seeing Nigeria have a taekwondo training centre soon and pledged total support in promoting the Korean culture among stakeholders of the martial-arts sport in the country.

She said: “The Taekwondo federation overtime has promoted the Korean culture to the best of her ability and I believe it is time for Korea to reciprocate.

“The federation is using this medium to appeal to Korea to build us National training centre where we can have our programmes and nurture budding talent.

“We do not want to host our national championships in the stadium but our own centre.

“Countries like Senegal and Kenya have National Training Centre built by Korea. I hope Korea will grant our desire by building ours.

“I am optimistic this will make encourage a large section of the youth to enrol into the sport of Taekwondo.”
