Sydney Olympic Games gold medalist Enefiok Udo-Obong has been honored by the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) as the Technical Official of the Year 2025.
The Nigerian sprint legend, who serves as a distinguished sports administrator, earned the recognition following his outstanding performance as Technical Director at the 3rd African U18 and U20 Combined Athletics Championships held in Abeokuta, Nigeria, earlier this year.

Udo-Obong’s technical expertise, and organizational acumen were instrumental in the smooth coordination and successful execution of the continental event, which drew participation from several African nations.
A celebrated Olympian, Udo-Obong is best known for anchoring Nigeria’s men’s 4x400m relay team to gold at the Sydney 2000 Olympics and bronze at the Athens 2004 Olympics. Beyond his athletic feats, he has built an impressive profile as a sports administrator, author, and advocate for athlete development.
His latest recognition by the CAA further cements his reputation as one of Africa’s most brilliant figures in athletics, both on and off the track.
