Fresh off an impressive indoor season, the 22-year-old powered through challenging conditions to clock 10.28 seconds (+3.4 m/s) in Heat 1 of the men’s 100m.
Although wind-assisted, the time reflects his growing speed and confidence as he transitions seamlessly into the outdoor season.
Born on April 16, 2003, Babalola is currently ranked 876th in the world in the men’s 100m, but his recent performances suggest a rapid rise up the rankings could be on the horizon.
His progression has been particularly notable since beginning his collegiate journey with Dillard University Track and Field, where he has quickly adapted to a highly competitive environment.
Babalola’s development was already evident during the indoor season. He opened his campaign at the New Orleans Triangular Winter Classic in December with a 60m time of 6.91 seconds, a solid starting point that set the stage for steady improvement in subsequent meets.
Now transitioning outdoors, the Nigerian freshman appears sharper and more explosive, showing the kind of early-season form that hints at a breakthrough year.
His ability to perform despite strong winds also highlights his physical strength and technical growth.
With confidence building and performances trending upward, Babalola is firmly one to watch in the sprint events this season.
If his current trajectory continues, the 2026 outdoor campaign could mark a significant leap forward in his athletic career.
