Supremacy Cup Not A Do Or Die Affairs But To Empower, Engage Youths Says Gafar

Chairman of 36 Lion Football Club of Lagos, Olawale Liameed Gafar has revealed that the upcoming Supremacy Cup is not a do or die affairs but a tournament which was designed to empower and engage the youths within the age of 16 to 21 years old.

Top football scouts from Belgium, Czech Republic, Norway, Denmark and Spain are expected in Nigeria for a 4-day Lagos Supremacy Cup ‘No Offside’ Scouting Tournament.

The tournament organized by 36 Lion in conjunction with Diamond Sports will be held at Mobolaji Johnson Arena from March 25th to 28th.

Gafar who doubles as event facilitator told sports247.ng this morning that the supremacy cup is to give the young players ample opportunity to showcase their God given talents saying that the four days tournament would also bring some players to the limelight.

“Our main objective is to use the Supremacy Cup to engage and empower the youths through the round leather game.It is not a do or die affairs for the participants.

“When we hosted Jagaban Cup late last year, we engaged hundred of youths and scouts picked some players for selection and today we are preparing for Supremacy Cup to empower another set of youths who have passion for the game.

“My advice for the players is to take supremacy cup seriously because the scouts from Europe would be around to assess the players for selection”,he said.

Ten teams are expected to take part in the competition. The teams are 36 Lion, Spartans, ASQ FC, Lekki Junior Strikers and SGFC.

Others are TCCG, Dino FC, CAT FC, Broad City and MS Success.
