#SupereaglesAFCON: CAF Didn’t Pick Osimhen For Doping Test – Raji Clears The Air

Babafemi Raji, the media officer for the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), has refuted claims regarding Victor Osimhen undergoing a doping test following the Super Eagles’ clash against Cameroon on Saturday.

Raji categorically stated, “CAF did not pick Osimhen for a random test after the game against Cameroon. The two players of the Super Eagles who were selected for random tests were Iheanacho, who did not even play, and the team captain, Troost Ekong. It’s surprising when we see a lot of media outlets carrying the news about Osimhen being chosen for a random test.”

He clarified that Osimhen had indeed undergone a random test, but it took place after the game against Cote D’Ivoire, not the encounter with Cameroon. Raji expressed concern about the dissemination of inaccurate information, emphasizing that the news suggesting Osimhen’s testing was linked to the Cameroon match was untrue.

“The two Nigerians that were picked for the random test were Iheanacho and Troost Ekong, as it is a normal practice by FIFA. After each game, they randomly select, by ballot, two players from each team for testing. On the day Nigeria played Cameroon, they picked Iheanacho and Troost Ekong,” Raji explained.

The clarification from the NFF aims to set the record straight and quash any speculations surrounding Osimhen’s alleged doping test after the Cameroon game.

Amid intense tournament action, accuracy in reporting becomes crucial, and Raji’s statement reinforces the commitment to providing accurate information to the football community and fans alike.

As the Super Eagles continue their journey in the competition, the focus remains on the field, with any off-field controversies put to rest by the NFF’s clarification.
