Super Falcons Will Not Be Disgraced At Women’s Africa Cup of Nations – Mohammed Sanusi

NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi

As the Nigerian female national team, Super Falcons get set to battle Tunisia on Sunday, in their first match at this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON 2025) in Morocco, the secretary-general of the country’s football governing body, Dr Mohammed Sanusi has predicted that they will not be disgraced at the impending championship.

Sports247 reports that, in contrast with what happened three years ago in the same country, when the Falcons stumbled to a hitherto, unheard of fourth position at Maroc 2022, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) scribe believes the story will turn out with a different conclusion this time out.

Although he stopped short of predicting that the Falcons will return home as champions of the continent, Sanusi disclosed that Coach Justin Madugu’s side has been motivated in every way possible to gun for the title.

Mohammed Sanusi declared, “There is nothing new to Nigeria football as far as winning that title is concerned, but there is a lot that comes out from winning it.

“That’s because national pride is at stake, coupled with the fact that the last four teams in this championship will be the ones to represent Africa in the World Cup.”

The NFF’s scribe then went on to explain the concept behind the federation’s decision to launch a promotional campaign tagged ‘Mission X’ for the Falcons’ outing in Morocco, where he pointed out that they will do everything possible to clinch a tenth African title.

Sanusi expatiated, “The Super Falcons have so far won the African title nine times. That is why we are using the tax ‘X,’ which represents ten in Roman numbers.

“So, when we say ‘Mission X,’ it means we are going for the 10th title. I can tell you authoritatively, and by the Grace of God, that Nigeria’s team is going to do well.”

He concluded by pointing it that he will not make an exact prediction about a conquest of the championship by the Falcons, but affirmed that skipper of the side, Rasheedat Ajibade and her colleagues will make Nigeria proud during the upcoming competition in The Atlas Nation.

“I can not say they will win the cup or the position that they will take … which is beyond me and depends on the power that comes from God. But, by the grace of God, going by the preparations, we are not going to be disgraced,” Sanusi assured.
