Super Falcons Star Oshoala Unsure Which Team To Support In NWFL Premiership Super 6

Asisat Oshoala, a prominent player for the Nigerian women’s national football team, the
Super Falcons, recently expressed her confusion over which team to support during the
ongoing Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six.

The NWFL Super Six tournament commenced at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on Tuesday.

The competition features six teams vying for the league title: Bayelsa Queens, Delta
Queens, Rivers Angels, Edo Queens, Robo Queens, and Confluence Queens. The
victorious team will have the honor of representing Nigeria at the CAF Champions League,
which will take place later this year in Ivory Coast.

Oshoala, currently playing for Barcelona, began her professional career with Nigerian clubs FC Robo and Rivers Angels from 2009 to 2015 before moving to Liverpool Ladies.
Due to her past affiliations with both clubs, she found herself torn when the Rivers Angels
faced the Robo Queens in the opening match of the Super Six.

In that match, the Rivers Angels emerged triumphant with a 2-0 victory. Chiamaka
Okwuchukwu scored the opening goal in the 36th minute with a powerful strike, while Adaobi Okah sealed the win with a goal in the 79th minute. Oshoala took to Twitter after the game and expressed her mixed emotions, saying, “I don’t even know how to feel sef but congrats sha” (a Nigerian slang term meaning “congratulations anyway”).

In addition to her involvement in the NWFL Super Six, Oshoala recently made history on the international stage. Her team, Barcelona Femeni, clinched the 2023 Women’s Champions League title by defeating Wolfsburg.

Despite being unable to play in the final due to injury, Oshoala achieved a remarkable feat.

With this victory, she became the first female player from Africa, as well as from Nigeria, to win two European Cups.

Throughout her 14-year career, Oshoala has accumulated numerous accolades, continually adding to her already impressive collection of trophies. Her accomplishments have solidified her status as one of Africa’s most successful and celebrated female footballers.

As the NWFL Super Six progresses, Oshoala’s attention will undoubtedly remain divided, but her impact on the game and her impressive track record will continue to inspire both her former and current teammates, as well as her fans worldwide.
