Trailing 2–0 in the first half to goals from Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak (13′) and Sanaa Mssoudy (24′), the Nigerian side regrouped after the interval and mounted a spirited comeback

Their revival began in the 64th minute when Esther Okoronkwo coolly converted a penalty to halve the deficit. Seven minutes later, Afolasade Ijamilusi curled home the equaliser to level the match at 2‑2. Then, in the 88th minute, substitute Jennifer Echegini nodded home a free-kick to seal a remarkable 3‑2 victory for Nigeria.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade led by example and was a standout performer, while Coach Justin Madugu tactically outfoxed Morocco’s management on home soil to complete “Mission X” for Nigeria.
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the team for their resilience and patriotic display, declaring that Nigeria once again celebrates its champions.
With this comeback win, the Super Falcons not only retain their position as Africa’s most successful women’s team but also reaffirm their dominance in continental football.
