Super Eagles defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has officially joined Turkish giants Beşiktaş JK from Leicester City in a deal worth a reported €8 million, signing a three-year contract with an option for a fourth. The 28-year-old Nigerian star will don the iconic No. 4 jersey as he prepares for his debut in the Turkish Süper Lig.
Ndidi, a mainstay in Leicester City’s midfield for eight years, made 303 appearances and scored 18 goals for the Foxes, winning the FA Cup in 2021 and the Community Shield the same year. Known for his exceptional ball-winning ability, tactical intelligence, and tireless work rate, he arrives in Istanbul as a marquee signing for the Black Eagles, who are seeking to bolster their squad for both domestic and European challenges.

In his first comments as a Beşiktaş player, Ndidi expressed excitement and commitment, stating, “Joining Beşiktaş is really amazing for me. I kissed the badge, which is very important. It shows love.” The Nigerian international missed the first leg of the club’s Europa Conference League qualifier but is eager to get on the pitch and make an impact.
Wearing the No. 4 jersey carries symbolic weight at Beşiktaş, representing defensive steel and leadership in the heart of midfield—qualities Ndidi has embodied throughout his career. His arrival is expected to bring stability, aggression, and tactical discipline to Beşiktaş’s spine, potentially transforming their midfield into one of the most formidable in Turkey.
The move marks a new chapter for Ndidi after his long spell in England, as he steps into a passionate football culture in Istanbul. With the Süper Lig season set to kick off, all eyes will be on the Nigerian powerhouse to see if he can replicate—and even surpass—the success he enjoyed in the Premier League, now under the floodlights of Vodafone Park.
