The talented player had the opportunity to make a comeback to Belgium after an impressive loan spell at Adana Demirspor.

Onyekuru initially gained prominence in Belgium during his remarkable stint with Eupen. Following a loan to Anderlecht, he made a move to Everton in 2018.

Subsequently, he had spells with Galatasaray, Monaco, and Olympiakos, before finalizing his transfer to Adana Demirspor in the Turkish first division.

The 26-year-old, who has represented Nigeria in 16 international appearances, secured a permanent transfer to Adana Demirspor for approximately €3.5 million.

After being loaned to the club last season, Super Eagles player, Onyekuru played a crucial role, contributing eight goals and three assists in 30 games.

His impressive performances helped Adana Demirspor secure a fourth-place finish in the 2022–23 Süper Lig, consequently qualifying for European competitions for the first time in the club’s history.

Under the guidance of Barcelona legend Patrick Kluivert, Onyekuru is set to continue his football journey with Adana Demirspor.

The club’s president, Murat Sancak, confirmed receiving multiple offers for the player, but it was Onyekuru himself who declined the approaches from Anderlecht and Club Brugge.

Looking ahead, Onyekuru aims to make a significant impact on the continental stage as Adana Demirspor prepares for their participation in the Europa Conference League.

With his experience, skill, and goal-scoring ability, the Nigerian striker will undoubtedly be a key asset in the club’s pursuit of success in European competitions.
