Former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Committee member, Barrister Chris Green, has called on the Super Eagles to repay the Federal Government’s support by winning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Green made the appeal following the fulfilment of housing and national honour promises made by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration after the Super Eagles’ second-place finish at the 2023 AFCON.

Speaking to Sports247, the former NFF official described the government’s action as a commendable gesture and challenged the players to respond with greater commitment and dedication on the pitch.
“It is a good gesture. The players must show commitment and dedication.
To whom much is given, much is expected. They should win the AFCON to reciprocate this gesture,” Green said.
The Federal Government redeemed its housing pledge on Monday in Fes, Morocco, ahead of Nigeria’s opening Group C match against Tunisia.
During a brief ceremony, players were presented with Certificates of Occupancy for the lands and houses allocated to them, alongside certificates of national honours.
The Super Eagles have since begun their 2025 AFCON campaign on a positive note, recording a 2–1 victory over Tanzania in their opening group match.
Barrister Green, who previously served on the NFF Technical Committee, added that the team must raise the quality of their performances, noting that the government’s gesture should serve as strong motivation to push for continental glory in Morocco.
