Super Eagles Ready To Soar, Reclaim AFCON Glory With Strong Squad, Determination

Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, secured their qualification for the highly anticipated 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Sierra Leone in June.

With their place in the tournament assured, the team has one final qualification round game against Sao Tome and Principe.

Speaking in an interview with Wazobia FM Lagos, Victor Osimhen, the talented striker from Napoli who is currently enjoying his holiday, expressed his confidence in the Super Eagles chances of clinching their fourth AFCON title if it’s in line with “God’s will.”

Osimhen commended the team’s composition, describing it as a formidable squad capable of achieving great things. He expressed his pride in representing Nigeria and highlighted the team’s commitment to fighting for their country.

The young striker emphasized the team’s ambitious goal of securing the AFCON trophy, setting their sights on greatness.

Addressing concerns about losing the faith of Nigerians, Osimhen mentioned three influential players within the squad who have been instrumental in guiding and supporting the younger members: Ahmed Musa, Kenneth Omeruo, and Wilfred Ndidi.

Osimhen acknowledged that some fans may have become disheartened after the team’s failure to qualify for the 2022 World Cup. However, he assured them that the Super Eagles were determined to win back their support.

He expressed confidence in the team’s preparations, assuring everyone that they would witness a different and improved Super Eagles in the upcoming AFCON tournament.

The Napoli striker believes that with hard work and the blessings of God, the Super Eagles can triumph in the competition.

The 2023 AFCON finals are scheduled to take place from 13 January to 11 February 2024 in Cote d’Ivoire, providing an opportunity for Nigeria to showcase its talent and compete for the coveted title.
