Super Eagles’ Players Are Determined To Qualify For 2026 World Cup – Gusau

All players in Nigeria’s national team, the Super Eagles are determined to give their very best and ensure they qualify for next year’s FIFA World Cup, Sports247 reports.

This revelation was made by the president of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, who assured Eagles’ fans that the team will qualify.

While admitting it is a tough scenario for the Eagles having to make it through the route of play-offs to the 2026 Mundial, Gusau stressed that the players will give their very best to scale the hurdle.

He admitted that the Eagles’ poor start to the qualifiers put them in a tight spot and eventually led to their runners-up placement in their group, but pointed out that whipping Benin Republic 4-0 confirmed a high level of zeal now exuding among the players.

“The most important thing is the level of commitment and zeal of the players. They now realise that going to the World Cup is very, very important for their careers — even more than many Nigerians see it.

“From their spirit in the last two matches, you can see these guys are ready to be at the World Cup. I don’t have any element of doubt (that they will make it there),”Gusau boasted.

He concluded by revealing the value of total backing from the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the federal government, especially as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has used generous rewards to recognise the role of sports in showcasing Nigeria’s image internationally.

“The federal government is fully behind us and, right from today, we’ve started preparations. With the level of seriousness in the camp, I believe we’ll make it through the playoffs,” Gusau projected.

Sports247 adds that the Eagles’ first match during the play-offs in Morocco will be versus Gabon on November 13th, after which they will tackle the winner between Cameroon and DR Congo on the 16th of same month.

The winner of the African play-offs’ final will then proceed to tackle five other countries from each of FIFA’s affiliated continents, with only two tickets available at that stage for the 2026 World Cup
