Super Eagles: Peseiro Retains Two NPFL Players in Squad for AFCON Qualifiers

Out of 8 NPFL players who made the trip to the US for the friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador, two have been retained for the 2023 AFCON qualifiers starting next Thursday.

Super Eagles gaffer, Jose Peseiro released the list this morning via the Nigeria Football Federation handles.

Katsina United’s versatile defender, Faisal Sani who had the highest number of minutes in the US Tour among the NPFL players was retained alongside goalkeeper, Adewale Adeleke of Akwa United.

This means that the previously invited players return including the league’s highest goal scorer, Ishaq Rafiu, Victor Mbaoma, Babatunde Bello, Chiamaka Madu, Olorunleke Ojo all return to their respective clubs.

Victor Mbaoma, Ishaq Rafiu, Chiamaka Madu alongside Faisal Sani all made their debuts for the Super Eagles in the 2-1 loss to Mexico.
