Christantus Uche lit up Selhurst Park on Sunday evening, delivering a brief yet promising cameo that left Crystal Palace supporters buzzing with excitement.
The 22-year-old Nigerian midfielder, a deadline-day acquisition from Spanish side Getafe, made his Premier League bow in Palace’s hard-fought goalless draw against Sunderland.

Introduced in the 84th minute, Uche wasted no time in announcing himself.
With quick feet and sharp intent, he floated a delightful cross that unsettled Sunderland’s backline before unleashing a crisp half-volley, forcing young goalkeeper Robin Roefs into action.
Though the breakthrough never arrived, Uche’s cameo hinted at the creative spark he can ignite in Palace’s attacking engine.
Speaking after the game, the Super Eagles star brimmed with optimism:
“The game was good, but not the result we wanted. We’ll keep working hard every day to make it right.”
The midfielder also acknowledged the warmth of the Selhurst Park faithful, who immediately embraced their new signing. “The fans are amazing. I heard them chanting my name – that pushed me to give more. Once they trust me, I’ll always give 100 percent.”
Uche revealed that manager Oliver Glasner urged him to play with freedom and belief.
“He told me to make it right. He trusts me, so I had to give my best.”
Despite juggling international duty with Nigeria, where he recently won his third Super Eagles cap in a World Cup qualifier, Uche has settled swiftly in London.
His new teammates, he added, have played a huge role in easing the transition.
With his debut now in the books, Uche is determined to shine brighter.
Backed by his coach, teammates, and fans, the Nigerian livewire looks ready to carve his name into Palace’s Premier League journey.
