Sports247 gathered that victories over Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt, plus the fact that they did not lose to Morocco during open play, have accounted for the surge achieved by Nigeria.
The three-time African champions are also now the continent’s third ranked nation, behind new AFCON champions Senegal (12th globally) and runners-up Morocco (8th), with the Eagles having achieved their biggest leap in recent months.
Sports247 gathered further that the Eagles climbed 12 places to 26th position on the same day four of their players – Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen – were listed in the AFCON 2025 all-star-eleven.
