Sunshine stars football club of Akure today thrashed Lobi stars of Markurdi 3-1 to end the elite football league season in style .
The Edith Agoye tutored side showed dominance from the blast of the whistle gaining early possession of the the ball in the half of their opponent.
Sunshine stars first chance came in the 7th minutes , with Stephen Chukwude shooting just inches Wide
Chances were created moments later with Seun Olulayo, Suraj Ibrahim and Stephen Chukwude combining well upfront and creating problems for Lobi stars
In the 17th minutes Seun Olulayo got his name into the referee’s book for a harsh challenge on Lobi stars Midfielder
Goal sensation Stephen Chukwude however opened scoring for Sunshine stars in the 22nd minutes with a diving header from a well taken corner kick by Emeka Isaac.
Sunshine stars grew in confidence after the goal rendering Lobi stars players hopeless on the pitch with superb displays of football artistry
Lucky Gyang showed composure in the 39th minutes receiving a clear pass from Suraj Ibrahim after Isaac Emeka disposes a Lobi stars attacker
Lucky drives in with his left foot , dazzled inside the penalty box and squares to Midfield maestro Michael Olalusi who wasted no time in slotting home to give Sunshine stars a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Lucky Gyang was however replaced in the 46th minutes by Vincent Temitope following a knock he picked up
The first half however ended 2-0 in favor of Sunshine stars Fc
On resumption into the second half Sunshine stars Fc continued from where they stopped , creating chances but couldn’t convert any in the first 10 minutes of the second half .
Vincent Temitope could have increased the tally for Sunshine stars in the 65th minutes after receiving a pass from Stephen Chukwude but his efforts was calmly saved by Lobi stars goalkeeper
In the 70th minutes Lobi stars however scored a goal , a shot by Elijah Ani ,beaten Mustafa lawal in goal for Sunshine stars Fc.
In the 72nd minutes Awosanmi Promise and chisom Ngomere were introduced to replace Seun Olulayo and Isaac Emeka.
The tactical change however yielded result in the 83rd minutes ,promise Awosanmi giving an incredible pass at the edge of the box , Vincent Temitope perfectly buries to make it 3 for Sunshine stars
In the 85th minutes another tactical change was made by Edith Agoye , this time Dennis Chigozie and John Chukwudi replacing adeyemi kehinde and Stephen Chukwude
Stars dominance continued but couldn’t add more to the goal tally as the match ended 3-1
With the resounding victory over Lobi stars Sunshine stars broke a decade jinx of not too good league position clinching the 4th position on the league table
Edith Agoye in his post match interview described the feat achieved by Sunshine stars as a great one
” Over the years it’s been tough with Sunshine stars and the team always struggle to make a mark , battling relegation or coming 6th ,8th or 9th when not battling relegation, but today the fans are happy and I’m happy as well”
Agoye however commended the massive support he got from the management of the team through the Sports commissioner Dele Ologun
