Sunshine Queens Return To Elite Women League

Sunshine Queens football club has returned to the Nigeria Women Football League NWFL top flight after playing a season in the second-tier league.

Recalled, that Akure Landladies relegated in the 2021/22 season alongside Pelican Stars.

The 2015 Women’s Federation Cup winners got promoted after the championship playoffs held in Ogun State in the second position with 12 points.

The Nigeria Women Football League board made the announcement at the Annual General Assembly meeting (AGA) held in Lagos on Thursday.

Also promoted to the elite Women’s league include; Lakeside Queens, Dannaz Ladies, and Ekiti Queens.

The Team Manager of Sunshine Queens, Kehinde Odogun thanked all the critical stakeholders who played a pivotal role in the team’s promotion to the elite league.

I thank the management for their unwavering support in ensuring that the team returns Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL)”

He added that the management of the team will fortify the team with the best legs that will represent the state well when the league starts.

The abridged Nigeria Women Football League has been slated to kick off by November 15.
