Successful National Open Trials For Nigerian Kickboxing Athletes Ahead of World Championship

The Kickboxing Federation of Nigeria (KFN) has declared the recently concluded National Open Trials a success, expressing satisfaction with the event’s outcome.

The two-day trials aimed to identify the best kickboxing athletes who will represent Nigeria at the upcoming Kickboxing World Championship in Albufeira, Portugal.

Approximately 50 boxers participated in the trials, which were organized to ensure that Nigeria sends a competitive team to the international championship in November.

The event took place at the Old Parade Ground in Area 10, Abuja.

Kevin Onyika, the Technical Director of the KFN, expressed his contentment with the level of participation and the athletes’ performance during the trials.

He emphasized that the trials aimed to be fair and transparent, providing all athletes with the opportunity to showcase their talent, thus ensuring the selection of the best individuals to represent Nigeria.

Onyika elaborated on the significance of the trials, explaining that they prevent the inadvertent exclusion of talented athletes during the selection process.

The KFN’s intention was to select athletes who would give Nigeria a strong presence at the World Championship.

One of the athletes who participated in the open trials, Bello Basit, expressed his commitment to providing the country with outstanding representation if he makes the final selection.

The athletes are keen to make Nigeria proud on the international stage at the World Association of Kickboxing Organization (WAKO)-organized championship.

The successful National Open Trials have brought Nigeria one step closer to assembling a formidable kickboxing team for the upcoming World Championship in Portugal.

The KFN’s dedication to transparency and fairness in the selection process ensures that the nation will be well-represented by its best kickboxing talents on the global stage.
