Strict Covid-19 Measures Ensure Safe And Successful FIFA Club World Cup 2020 In Qatar

The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy media department expressed their happiness after concluding the FIFA Club World Cup with great success where everyone enjoyed seeing the continental champions competing for the title.

Ali El-Zein, Regional Media Relation Senior Expert at Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy said: “We congratulate everyone for what has been achieved during this global sporting event. We thank the efforts of all those involved in organizing the tournament and for their wonderful role that made us witness a distinguished version of the FIFA Club World Cup 2020 in Qatar that was admired by everyone.”

During this tournament, many strict health protocols to prevent COVID-19 were implemented, in line with the recommendations of the Ministry of Public Health and concerned authorities, in order to ensure the safety of all spectators and participants, including members of the media.

Among those protocols is the “medical bubble” system, which allowed the movement of all participating teams, their technical staff, and the media accompanying them within a safe space. Spectators and all participants were obliged to conduct periodic PCR tests to ensure that they are infection-free from COVID -19.

The pandemic has imposed many challenges on the organizing committee, and the excitement of spectators going back to watching live football events were incredible, so many measures to regulate the entry and exit of the masses from the stadiums were strictly applied, like maintaining the safe distance, mask-wearing, checking temperatures, and highlighting (Green) status on an App called Precaution (Ehtiraz) pre-entry, along with other precautionary measures.

In addition, the organizing committee provided safe transportation that applies social distancing, also all-tournament facilities were sterilized on an ongoing basis, and the committee ensured the presence of medical staff in stadiums to intervene for any emergency cases.

MEDIA INCLUDED
Precautionary measures have been applied to everyone no exceptions, including journalists and media representatives for their constant presence inside the tournament stadiums, as they underwent PCR tests at least 72 hours before attending each match to ensure their safety, while adhering to the rules of social distancing, the continuous wearing of masks, coverage of press interviewing activates were limited through visual communication technology.

SPECTATOR SAFETY PROTOCOLS
The entry and exit for spectators were organized according to an integrated plan to ensure no crowding, maintaining social distancing of 1.5 meters between each spectator, as spectators were distributed in seats with an interval of three seats from every spectator from all sides, except for Families where a maximum of four members of the same family could sit together, and the seats that were permitted to sit were clearly marked.

In addition to distributing Covid-19 awareness-raising banners in various areas to help with precautionary measures adherence, also the distribution of protective face masks to the spectators, and providing assistance when needed.

30% CAPACITY
The ongoing challenges demanded the organizing committee to work with the least possible number of labor in order to ensure the safety of everyone, where the total capacity reached 30% for each stadium.

This tournament has achieved global successes and was graced with the participation of more than 2,400 people, this includes 140 players representing 6 prestigious international clubs, 700 employees with great skills and competencies from the local organizing committee, 1500 volunteers who made a great effort, in addition to a distinguished number of media representatives.
