An innovative youth grooming and empowerment initiative named in honour of former Super Eagles’ captain and head coach, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi, is set to be launched in June, as part of activities marking the 10th anniversary of his death.
Sports247 gathered that the new agency, to be known as Stephen Keshi Obazuwa Mixed Development Project Model, will be launched during this year’s memorial lecture in honour of the late football icon.

This was revealed by chairman of the board of trustees of Stephen Keshi Football And Vocational Training Centre (SKFVTC), Louis Brown Ogbeifun, who said the event will hold on June 7th at Nigeria Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Victoria Island, Lagos.
Ogbeifun further explained that the annual memorial lecture is packaged by SKFVTC, who also organize Stephen Keshi National U-17 Football Tournament, in honour of the late star’s contributions to the game and national development.
The SKFVTC’s board of trustees’ chairman also revealed that the 10th anniversary lecture will be delivered under the theme “Heroes of the Game: Celebrating African Football Legends for Tomorrow’s Aspirants.”
He added that issues to be discussed during the lecture include the influence of former players and legends in inspiring young people, as well as steps for advancing football development across Africa.
Ogbeifun also stated that Stephen Keshi Obazuwa Mixed Development Project Model is ‘an initiative designed to establish sustainable structures for identifying and developing talented youths.’
He affirmed, “Our intention is to celebrate Stephen Keshi and honour his immense contributions to football and society, particularly in promoting sportsmanship, youth empowerment and national unity.”
