Stephanie Okechukwu To Become Tallest Player Ever In USA’s Collegiate Basketball

Nigerian towering rookie, Stephanie Okechukwu is set to become the tallest player in the history of women’s college basketball, Sports247 gathered.

Okechukwu, who stands at a gigantic 7-feet-1, is set to play as centre for Texas Technical University once her international clearance papers come through at the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA).

Amazingly, Okechukwu, who is already on campus and awaiting the NCAA’s determination of her eligibility to stsr for The Red Raiders, has never played basketball in either collegiate or professional levels.

Coach of the side, Krista Gerlich said she is happy to her the physical advantages of Okechukwu, who earlier signed to join the team in October but could not immediately link up.

Gerlich stated, “She was worth the time, effort and teamwork that went into getting her here. She brings an element to our team that is an instant impact.

“Her ability to protect the rim and alter shots will be unique to one. She has great hands and touch around the basket and clearly will provide a big inside target at the rim.”

Sports247 gathered further that Okechukwu, who played high school basketball at Fukuchiyama Seibi in Japan, speaks Japanese fluently and is the fifth international player to sign at her new club.
