Obi Stephanie Bella, a versatile rugby player filling the roles of fly-half and outside centre for Racing Rugby Club in Lagos, shared her exhilarating experience participating in the recent Sandie Beach Rugby tournament at Landmark Beach.

Despite facing challenges, Stephanie and her team secured a commendable third position in the tournament.

Stephanie described her first beach rugby encounter as “fun,” emphasizing the enjoyment she derived from the unique experience.

“It was fun. Actually, this is my first time playing beach rugby but I had a good time. Even though along the line, we had some challenges and lapses, it was still fun.

Being a female playing amongst males is a whole different experience.

I’ll say kudos to myself and my team. We really tried. This is my first time not only playing beach rugby but also playing against males. It was really fun.” Stephanie explained excitedly in an interview with Sports247.

Racing Rugby Club stood out as the only team with a mixed-gender composition, a decision Stephanie attributed to the absence of complete teams and the possible oversight of other teams in registering mixed-gender squads.
