Former Super Falcons forward Stella Mbachu has come to the defence of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), dismissing claims that the federation is neglecting the women’s national team.
While there have been recent concerns over the treatment of the Super Falcons, Mbachu believes any lapses are only temporary and not a sign of abandonment by the football body.
“I believe they know what they are doing. Maybe they have one thing or the other — maybe a showdown — that’s why things are like this,” she said.
Mbachu, who featured prominently during her playing years, also recalled times when the federation fully supported the team.
“I don’t believe that they are neglecting them or only taking the Super Eagles seriously. No, I don’t believe so. Because there was a time they did everything possible to keep us in shape. So if maybe for one or two or three months they’re not able to meet up, that doesn’t mean they don’t like the team.”
Her comments come amid growing calls for better support and preparations for the Super Falcons ahead of upcoming international competitions.
