In a remarkable debut on the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) stage, Stanley Oganbor, a Delta-born talent playing for Lobi Stars FC Makurdi, has earned the prestigious Player of the Week accolade.
The young striker’s journey to this recognition began about 164 days ago when he made his debut for Lobi Stars FC in a post-season/pre-season tournament against City FC Abuja.

Oganbor, formerly with the NLO Club Side Flight FC Gboko, showcased his skills and contributed positively to Lobi’s victory in that tournament.
Since then, the forward has gradually integrated into the elite division, adapting to the challenges of the NPFL.
Despite having played fewer minutes than other NPFL strikers on the Top Scorers ranking, Oganbor boasts an impressive record with three goals and one assist, totalling six goal involvements this season.
Reacting to Oganbor’s recognition, Coach Thomas Gboro, a renowned grassroots development coach, expressed his admiration for the young striker’s abilities.
Gboro commended Oganbor’s playing style, emphasizing his fantastic qualities and significant impact on the team. According to Gboro, Oganbor’s movement, pace, and technical prowess make him a unique and valuable asset to Lobi Stars.
“I was impressed with Stanley Oganbor when I first watched him play. He’s a fantastic player, very important for us because he’s a complete striker and he brings real pace and intensity to the game,” said Coach Thomas Gboro.
He further likened Oganbor’s playing style to that of the legendary Super Eagles striker, Osaze Odemwingie.
Acknowledging Oganbor’s NPFL Player of the Week achievement, Coach Gboro downplayed it as a laudable achievement, urging the young striker to focus on achieving success in the league.
