SSA Anthony Adeboye Mourns Director of Special Duties, Tijjani Isah Yankwashi, Describes Loss as Painful for Nigeria’s Sports Family

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Director of Special Duties at the National Sports Commission (NSC), Tijjani Isah Yankwashi, who died after a brief illness in Kano.

The tragic news was further compounded by the passing of his mother on the same day, a development that has left the Nigerian sports community in shock and mourning.

In a condolence message, Hon. Adeboye described the late Yankwashi as a committed and dedicated public servant who contributed immensely to the growth and coordination of sports administration in Nigeria.

According to him, the news of the double loss came as a painful shock, not only to colleagues at the National Sports Commission but also to stakeholders across the Nigerian sports ecosystem.

“This is indeed a very painful loss for the entire Nigerian sports family. Tijjani Isah Yankwashi was a humble, hardworking and committed professional who served the nation with dedication. His contributions to sports administration and the development of our sector will not be forgotten,” Adeboye stated.

The Presidential aide also expressed heartfelt sympathy to the family of the late director, particularly as they grapple with the loss of both a son and a mother on the same day.

“Losing a loved one is always difficult, but losing two members of the same family in one day is a tragedy beyond words. My thoughts and prayers are with the Yankwashi family during this very difficult moment,” he added.

Hon. Adeboye prayed that Almighty Allah forgives their shortcomings, grants both the late Tijjani Isah Yankwashi and his mother eternal rest, and admits them into Aljannatul Firdaus.

“May Almighty Allah accept their souls, forgive their shortcomings and grant them Aljannatul Firdaus. May He also give the family, friends, and colleagues the strength and patience to bear this painful loss,” he prayed.

The passing of Tijjani Isah Yankwashi has drawn condolences from across Nigeria’s sports sector, where he was widely respected for his professionalism, humility, and service to the nation.
