The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Anthony Adeyinka Adeboye, on Tuesday joined family members, Catholic faithful, and dignitaries at St. Benedict Cathedral, Igoli Ogoja, Cross River State, to pay his final respects to the late Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Victor Achima Owan, whose wake-keep and funeral service drew mourners from across the country.
Hon. Adeboye, who attended the solemn ceremony in person, described the late Reverend Father as a devoted servant of God whose life of humility, compassion, and spiritual leadership touched countless lives within and beyond the Catholic community.

According to the presidential aide, Rev. Fr. Owan’s legacy of faith, discipline, and service to humanity remains a shining example of selfless dedication to God and society.
He also extended heartfelt condolences to the Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh, brother of the deceased, and the entire Owan family during what he described as a deeply painful moment.
“Rev. Fr. Victor Achima Owan lived a life of purpose, faith, and service. His impact on the Church and the community will continue to be remembered for generations,” Adeboye said.
The SSA noted that the gathering of clerics, government officials, friends, and well-wishers from across Nigeria was a testament to the profound respect and admiration the late cleric commanded during his lifetime.
As the faithful gathered in prayer and reflection to bid farewell, Hon. Adeboye prayed for the repose of the soul of Rev. Fr. Owan and asked God to grant his family, the Church, and all loved ones the strength and comfort to bear the loss.
He concluded by noting that the late Reverend Father’s life of devotion, integrity, and service remains an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire many within the Church and beyond.
