The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. According to Hon. Adeboye, the session was “a forward-looking engagement grounded in clear vision, passion, and a shared commitment to building a stronger sporting ecosystem for our young people.”

Discussions centered on enhancing community-level sports structures, improving access to facilities, and creating seamless pathways for athletes to progress from grassroots to elite levels. The team also explored collaborative models that align Lagos State’s sports development agenda with the Federal Government’s national youth development blueprint.

“This kind of synergy is exactly what we need across the country,” Adeboye said. “Lagos has always been a pace-setter, and what we are building here—together—will inspire the next generation of champions not just for the state, but for Nigeria as a whole.”

He commended DG Fatodu for his leadership and commitment to innovation, describing him as a “dynamic administrator driving real change with clarity and purpose.”

Hon. Fatodu, in his remarks, reaffirmed that Lagos State remains fully committed to expanding participation in sports, investing in modern facilities, and ensuring that every young Lagosian has an opportunity to discover and develop their talent.

Stakeholders who attended the session agreed that the new strategies, once fully implemented, will serve as a model for sports excellence nationwide.

The collaboration between the Office of the SSA and the Lagos State Sports Commission marks another significant step toward building a sustainable, inclusive, and world-class grassroots sports development structure across Nigeria.
