A high-level delegation from the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye, has arrived in Umunede, Delta State, Today, Wednesday February 11 to pay last respects to the late Mr. Sunday Ndidi, father of Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi.
The delegation is led by Mr. Jide-Ojo Olusola (JO), SA Media, alongside Mr. Eniola Abiola Atanda, Principal Assistant to the SSA on Grassroots Sports Development.

They are in the town on behalf of Hon. Adeboye to formally commiserate with the Ndidi family and represent the SSA at the burial rites scheduled for February 12, 2026.
Speaking on behalf of the SSA, members of the delegation described the visit as a reflection of Hon. Adeboye’s deep personal concern, compassion, and solidarity with Wilfred Ndidi, both as a national team captain and as a son mourning the loss of his father.
They noted that the SSA holds Wilfred Ndidi in high regard, not only for his contributions to Nigerian football but also for his exemplary leadership and commitment to the national cause, especially during the recent Africa Cup of Nations where he played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s third-place finish.
The delegation conveyed the SSA’s heartfelt condolences to the Ndidi family, offering prayers for the peaceful repose of Mr. Sunday Ndidi’s soul and strength for the family during this difficult period.
The presence of the SSA’s representatives further underscores the office’s belief that Nigerian athletes are not only national assets on the field but members of a larger family that deserves support, empathy, and honour in moments of joy and grief alike.
