The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye, has congratulated Tunji Disu on his appointment as Acting Inspector-General of Police, describing the move as a well-considered and confidence-inspiring decision by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the SSA praised President Tinubu for what he termed a calm, lawful and people-centred transition in the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force, following the resignation of Kayode Egbetokun.
Hon. Adeboye noted that Acting IGP Tunji Disu brings to the office a reputation for professionalism, discipline and operational depth, qualities he said are urgently required at a time of evolving national security challenges.
“Acting IGP Tunji Disu is a seasoned officer who understands both the demands of modern policing and the responsibility of leadership in a diverse nation like ours. His appointment reflects continuity, competence and confidence in our security institutions,” Adeboye said.
The SSA also commended the outgoing IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, for his years of dedicated service, describing his tenure as one marked by commitment to duty and institutional stability.
According to Adeboye, strong and credible security leadership remains fundamental to national development, youth empowerment and grassroots growth.
“You cannot separate security from development. Safe communities allow sports to thrive, youths to engage productively and national unity to grow. This is why leadership choices like this matter beyond the security sector alone,” he stated.
He urged Nigerians to support the Acting IGP as he assumes office, stressing that national progress requires collective trust in institutions and unity of purpose.
Hon. Adeboye concluded by reaffirming his confidence in President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that firm institutions, accountable leadership and public cooperation remain key pillars for a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.
