Squash Federation Top Shot Wilson Egberipou Stresses Accountability, Effective Use Of Funds

A board member of Nigeria Squash Federation (NSF), Wilson Egberipou has stressed the need for effective use of funds and accountability by officials as major factors needed in taking the once highly popular racquet sport to the next level.

Sports247 reports that, as elections loom in the sector, Egberipou took stock of the NSF’s outgoing dispensation and projected into the next one, with a verdict that issues of funding are always critical in defining the success or otherwise of each board.

He took a closer look at the upcoming zonal elections billed for this weekend and the elective general assembly that is scheduled to hold at Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on October 18th, with a verdict that the incoming officials not only have to consider raising funds but they should also note how such would be spent.

Egberipou reasoned, “Funding is a major issue for many projects, but the first thing to note is accountability. We have to make sure that the small or little resources at our disposal are well accounted for.

“We have to look into the efficient use of funds and make sure they achieve the aim for which such money is generated.”

Egberipou stressed that squash would become better organised, with all competitors relishing its values and more sponsors stepping forward, once proper use of funds is installed.

“We need to be efficient in the use of funds. Once we have that in place, we should be counting on well established agencies, organisations, individuals and charitable personalities who would be willing to put their money down for the development of sports.

“We have people who are lovers of squash. There are also committed and passionate squash players … people who love the game and want to see it grow,” Egberipou affirmed.
