Sports Minister Interest In 11 Year Old Boxing Sensation Excites Coach Tipo…Admits ‘Breakthrough’ Is Finally Here

Minister for Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare newly adopted young boxer’s coach, Taiwo Adegbite popularly known as ‘coach Tipo’ has revealed the extent of the escapades of the young lad amidst a life ridden of the basic amenities of what a child should have following the minister’s interest in Sultan as he hopes this call will surely be the tide for his breakthrough.

In an exclusive chat with sports247.ng, Adegbite who hails from Ogun State, Aiyetoro couldn’t hold back his share of life struggles, he said: “I have no other work hence the drive for boxing, my coaching badges were solely on my own responsibility which drove me out of the country to do my boxing courses and when I came back to Nigeria, we have been struggling to train the kids without facilities, but my passion and talent kept me going even when there is nothing.”

“Over time, I train both male and female, professionals and amateurs, just a little push with what am doing currently from willing philanthropists will go a long way although there have been several contacts with some organizations but have relented on their promises at some point and before you know it, you are back to the initial stage with nothing meaningful,” he lamented.

“Sultan is a very good boy and has been with me close to 6 years now, he is very intelligent, quick to learn, and he stood out among his peers. No one pushed him to boxing, he willingly came to me where I was training one early morning and said he wants to fight and doesn’t want to go back home. I took him in and was fierce with him, despite all the treatments and herculean demands, he firmly held his passion up and was determined to learn at all cost.”

“He is the best in his category, he tops his mates in every competition (35kg athlete category for kids who haven’t been tried in the higher categories) which resulted into people saying he’s more than his age, he just needs a little assistance, now that he is still young, he needs help and not when he travels out of the country, doing well that we will start claiming he’s a Nigerian, life for the little lad hasn’t been palatable, he needs all the help he can get now.”

“The sports minister got in touch with me and gave me necessary contacts about Sultan and he made it clear that he wants to adopt Sultan, there have been so many promises regarding sultan which have been thrown into the drain and I believe the breakthrough is here already with the minister’s intervention,” he stated.
