Former Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Dele Aiyenugba has added his voice to pre-match permutations rolling ahead of the Nigerian team’s clash with South Africa on Tuesday, saying though the match will be tough, the visitors must win it.
Sports247 reports that, with South Africa still standing tall with six points ahead of Nigeria in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification group, only a win by the Eagles in Bloemfontein on Tuesday would cut the difference to three, pending a decision by FIFA regarding a deduction of Bafana Bafana’s current haul.

Aiyenugba (aka The Cat) took a closer look at the current dicey scenario and acknowledged that Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Rwanda in Uyo was a huge relief that revived Nigeria’s almost lost hope, but added that the next game also has to be won by the Eagles.
He stressed: “The situation we are right now is for us to win the two games. There’s no other way … we just need to win the two games.”
However, the 2003 CAF Champions League winner with Enyimba of Aba stopped short of giving the Eagles tips on how to overcome the daunting task in Bloemfontein, as he reckoned that the players and coach should be able to come up with a winning strategy for Tuesday’s decisive game.
“I don’t know how the guys are going to do it, that’s left to them. It’s difficult, but it’s up to them to uplift their country.
They need to fight and do everything, their possible best, to come out victorious,” the now 41-year-old Aiyenugba affirmed.
