Singida Black Stars of Tanzania goalkeeper, Amas Obasogie has added his voice to bold declarations by Super Eagles’ players, as he gave a promise of 100% effort from each of them to win Tuesday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier away to South Africa.
Sports247 reports that the Eagles need nothing short of victory in order to stay in contention for a ticket to USA/Canada/Mexico 2026 and prevent South Africa from getting there early with three games to spare.
While taking note of the setting ahead of Tuesday’s decisive clash at Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein, the former Bendel Insurance FC of Benin City shot-stopper, who previously featured for a club in Ethiopia, admitted that only total focus by the players will give Nigeria the much desired three points.
The 25-year-old Obasogie then went ahead to disclose that all the Eagles’ players are determined to prove their mettle and promised that they will do everything to make Nigerians happy.
He added that they are happy, after raising hope afresh with Saturday’s 1-0 win over fourth placed Rwanda at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, and they now have to put icing on the cake with another win in Bloemfontein.
Obasogie pledged: “We will not let ourselves down. We’ll give 100% effort and more than 100% to make sure we take Nigeria to the World Cup.
“We just need to stay focused and do what will make us uplift the country. We are happy to be here, and we are willing to give everything to get the World Cup ticket.”
