“Something Is Strange at Arik Air”—Passenger Shocked Again As Economy Class Feels Like Business

A second-time passenger on Arik Air has expressed disbelief over what he described as yet another flawless flight experience, this time on Flight 1 from Abuja to Lagos, departing at 8:45 a.m. and landing exactly at 9:45 a.m., as promised.

The traveller, booked under reference 1AUMNB and holding ticket number 7252107684153, said the experience was so seamless and polished that it left him wondering if the airline had “completely turned a new page.”

“Excellence, I was told, is a journey—not a destination. But this is beginning to feel like Arik has arrived,” he said. “If this is not a fluke, and they can keep to their word, it will be good for the entire aviation industry.”

The passenger flew economy class, but described it as having “a taste of business class,” praising everything from the clean cabin environment to the courteous service, accurate announcements, and the pinpoint timing of both takeoff and landing.

“Captain Babajide Oni said we would land in Lagos by 9:45 a.m. and, at exactly 9:45, the wheels touched down. The takeoff in Abuja was exactly 8:45 a.m. as announced. Everything was so precise—it felt orchestrated.”

He continued:

“Is it the environment of the plane? Is it the service? Is it the attention you receive even at the booking end? I’m begging—keep this up.”

The flight, operated on Tuesday, June 24, appears to reinforce a pattern of high performance from Arik Air, following another widely praised flight on June 12 from Lagos to Abuja. The passenger from that earlier flight had also reported perfect timing and exceptional crew behavior under Captain Olajide.

Now, with two flawless flights in two weeks, some industry observers are starting to take note.

“We’re Used to Complaining—Now We’re Speechless”

The passenger, who admitted he is usually skeptical of local airlines, said it’s time Nigerians change the narrative when improvements are evident.

“Criticism is good, but when you are seeing improvement, why keep quiet?” he asked. “The entire cabin crew deserves an award. This is excellence that we should reward—not ignore.”

While Arik Air has yet to publicly respond to the recent wave of praise, passengers are beginning to share their positive experiences, calling for public recognition of crews who are setting new standards.
