City were firmly in control at the interval, with first-half goals from Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenyo underlining their dominance.

Spurs struggled badly before the break and were met with boos from their own supporters after a disjointed opening 45 minutes.

Solanke sparked Tottenham’s revival shortly after the restart, pulling a goal back to restore belief.

He then delivered a moment of improvisation that turned the contest on its head, diverting Conor Gallagher’s cross — which was behind him — over goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma with an audacious scorpion kick to level the score.

The comeback appeared unlikely at half-time, such was City’s authority. Pep Guardiola’s side had threatened early on before Cherki opened the scoring, advancing unchallenged through the Spurs defence to fire a low shot beyond Guglielmo Vicario.

The Frenchman nearly doubled his tally moments later, forcing Vicario into a crucial touch to divert his effort wide.

City’s second goal arrived just before the break after a poor clearance from Radu Dragusin fell to Rodri. The midfielder found Bernardo Silva, who teed up Semenyo for a composed finish.

Tottenham returned with renewed intensity in the second half, finally putting City under pressure. Donnarumma was called into action to deny Destiny Udogie before Solanke bundled home, a goal that sparked protests from City players who believed Marc Guehi had been fouled in the build-up.

Solanke’s stunning equaliser followed soon after, capping a spirited turnaround and sending the home crowd into raptures.

The draw leaves Manchester City six points adrift of leaders Arsenal in the title race, while Tottenham earned deserved praise for their resilience and character, producing a rare uplifting performance at home after a difficult season.
