Solanke Opts For Crystal Palace Loan Deal

Liverpool striker, Dominic Solanke has opted for a loan spell at Crystal Palace, instead of Brighton, Aston Villa or Glasgow Rangers.

Sports247.ng learnt that Fulham and Huddersfield Town had also earlier approached Liverpool earlier this month to discuss a loan agreement for Solanke, but the Nigerian-born star prefers Palace.

Palace and Brighton were among the sides to have held talks with the 21-year-old, who was named MVP of the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which he helped England win, but The Eagles have won the race.

Solanke has yet to play a single minute for Liverpool this term, leading to a number of Premier League clubs stepping forward to offer the youngster a short-term deal.

The Seagulls’ one-striker approach, compared to Roy Hodgson’s usual tactic to go with two up top, is said to have played a big part in Solanke’s decision.

Solanke is currently in his second season at Anfield, but he has not made a single first-team outing for the Merseyside giants since May and will be allowed to leave on loan in January, and he has opted for Palace.

The Eagles have improved in recent weeks with seven points coming from their last three games, but manager Roy Hodgson is still keen to bring in a new frontman and would be prepared to hand Solanke regular minutes in the top flight.
