Sodiq’s Current Form Deserves Super Eagles Call-Up Says Manager

The current form of Sodiq Anthony Rasheed who is plying his trade with a division one Russian club, FC Alania deserves Super Eagles call up as the country’s national team are preparing for both Africa Nations Cup and FIFA World Cup qualifying matches in few days to come.

These were the submission of his manager, Ushurhe Anthony on his personal assessment of Sodiq who just signed for a Russian club recently.

He said the current form of former Messiah FC & Remo Stars’ central defender has caught the attention of many clubs across Europe and urged the Super Eagles coaching crew led by Genort Rohr to look into the young lad who is making a wave in Eastern Europe.

“Sodiq Anthony Rasheed is more popular in Nigeria especially in the southern part of the country before he left for Europe. While in Nigeria, he played for the amateur club, Messiah FC of Lagos and professional club, Remo Stars FC of Ogun State.

“Currently the 20 years old player has just signed for a Russian club, FC Alania. Before he signed for the Russian club, he played for Fremad FC Of Denmark. His outstanding performances in the Danish league in two seasons caught the attention of the Russian club to quickly sign him.

“Sodiq has carved a niche for himself and he has adjudged man of the match time without numbers in Danish league and time has come for him to serve his fatherland, “said Anthony who urged the technical department of Nigeria Football Federation to monitor the young lad if he deserves to play for the senior national team or not.

His manager Anthony who is also a uncle to Sodiq and former coach of Messiah FC of Lagos said the FC Alania player has what it takes to bring sanity to the national team’s defence.

He disclosed that while he was tutoring Sodiq in Messiah FC, he knew Sodiq would showcase his talent to the world.

The former coach of Messiah FC said he has watched several video clips of his past matches but was convinced that playing for Eagles would help the coaching crew to achieve their targets.

“Sodiq is a delight to watch anytime he plays. His style of play gladdens the heart of football fans in Europe and many clubs are running after him but at the end of the day, he finally signed for the Russian club.

“I am using this medium to call on coaching crew of Super Eagles led by Rohr to pay attention to this young player and invite him for the national team ahead of subsequent continental competitions,” he said.
