Manchester United Ladies’ Nigerian-born midfielder, Simi Awujo has gained some deeply emotional words of sympathy from her coach, after he sent her on as a substitute and replaced her after only 11 minutes on the field.

Sports247 reports that the unusual scene occurred during an English Women’s Super League (WSL) fixture, in which the 22-year-old Canada international was introduced in the second half by United’s gaffer, Marc Skinner.
Awujo’s coach confessed that he was distressed with the shock decision he took during the game away to Arsenal Ladies last Sunday, but said it was due to an unexpected incident that occurred after she went on.
Sports247 gathered that Awujo replaced Fridolino Rolfe on 60 minutes but had to be yanked off in favour of a defensive reinforcement, after The Red Devils’ full-back, Jayde Riviere was sent off five minutes later.
Skinner has now apologized and declared emotionally, “I did it with a heavy heart. It wasn’t nice – it wasn’t something I wanted to do. But it was the right thing for the team.
“It was a positional necessity, rather than anything personal. My job is to look after individuals but to make sure the team functions the way we needed it in that moment.
“All you can do is make your decision and explain it, because it affects another human. I felt I have done that and it should be put to bed now, because Simi understood it.”
