Tanzanian giants Simba SC are closing in on appointing a new head coach following the departure of Fadlu Davids, who joined Moroccan heavyweights Raja Casablanca.
According to club chairman Crescentius Magori, Simba are in advanced talks with two high-profile tacticians — Madagascar national team coach Romuald Rakotondrabe and Kenya’s head coach Benni McCarthy — with the final decision expected by Wednesday.

“Our talks with the two coaches are going well and by Wednesday we will have found a new coach to replace Fadlu. The fans are expected to be calm this time,” Magori told reporters.
Rakotondrabe guided Madagascar to a historic runners-up finish at the 2024 CHAN tournament, while McCarthy steered Kenya to the quarter-finals of the same competition. Their recent exploits convinced Simba’s leadership that either could deliver success at the club.

“The reason for recommending the coaches is the quality they showed in the CHAN tournament, so we believe that if given our team, it will be easy to achieve our goals this season,” Magori explained.
Currently, Simba’s squad is under the temporary stewardship of third-team assistant coach Seleman Matola after Davids left with his entire backroom staff.
The new coach will be unveiled to the fans once negotiations are concluded.
