Sierra Leone 0-0 Nigeria: Nigerian Player Ratings after Freetown Showdown

By Okechukwu Emmanuel

The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Tuesday in Freetown were held to a disappointing goalless draw against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone.

Here is how each player performed after the poor goalless draw against the Leone stars?

~MADUKA OKOYE (6.5/10):
The Sparta Rotterdam shot-stopper had a better game in Freetown, where he kept a clean sheet unlike the game in Nigeria where he conceded 4 goals. He was sharp and active to crosses and long balls in his box.

~LEON BALOGUN (7/10):
The Glasgow Rangers defender had a great game at the heart of defence together with his defence partner Williams Troost Ekong.

~WILLIAMS TROOST-EKONG (7/10):
He defended a lot more better than he did during Friday’s collapse in Benin, probably due to the great partnership with Leon Balogun.

~OLA AINA (6/10):
The Fulham right back didn’t quite offer much offensively but was great on his defensive duties.

~KEVIN AKPOGUMA (4.5/10):
It was yet another average performance from the hoffenheim defender, as his flank was mostly penetrated by the Leone stars. He was later substituted in the second half, replaced by Chigozie Awaziem.

~JOE ARIBO (5/10)
He had an average game. He was replaced by Semi Ajayi late in the second half of the game.

~OGHENEKARO ETEBO (5/10):
He played just 36 minutes of the game and was replaced by Abdullahi Shehu probably due to a knock.

~ALEX IWOBI (5.5/10)
The former Arsenal attacker didn’t do too much unlike the game in Benin where he scored a brace. He only had one brilliant moment in the second half, when he had an attempt which flash wide of the Sierra Leone goal.

~SAMUEL CHUKWUEZE (7/10)
The Villarreal man was the most prominent threat for the Super Eagles going forward. He created a chance for Kelechi Iheanacho with just a few minutes of the second half played which the Leicester attacker missed.

~KELECHI IHEANACHO (5.5/10):
He missed a great chance to give the Super Eagles the lead just a few minutes into the second half, forcing a great save from the Sierra Leone goalkeeper.

~AHMED MUSA (3.5/10):
It was yet another poor performance from the Super Eagles captain as he barely got hold of the ball.
Still don’t know why he started and ended the game.

~CHIGOZIE AWAZIEM (2/10):
He replaced Kevin Akpoguma in the second half and didn’t add much. He almost caused the Super Eagles a loss after he was beaten in the final minute of the game.

~ABDULLAHI SHEHU(2.5/10):
He replaced Etebo in the first half but he didn’t offer much to the game.

~EMMANUEL DENNIS (1.5/10):
He replaced Kelechi Iheanacho late in the game and couldn’t offer much.

~SEMI AJAYI (1.5/10):
He replaced the average Joe Aribo late in the second half and couldn’t offer much as well just like like Emmanuel Dennis.
