Showtime Flag Football’s electrifying “Streetz: Ogba Edition” on Saturday, July 5th proved that flag football is no longer just a game seen in Hollywood films or American schools—it’s now hitting the streets of Nigeria in full force.
From gritty plays to unstoppable energy, the streets of Ogba came alive with cheers, competition, and curiosity.

What started as a local activation turned into a community-wide celebration. As athletes trained and competed, passersby stopped, intrigued.
“Wait… this sport is actually being played in Nigeria?” they asked, some for the first time seeing flag football outside of a screen.
Photos were taken, balls were passed around, and questions flew—what is this game? How do we get involved?
This spontaneous crowd reaction is exactly what Showtime Flag had envisioned.
“This is the heart of our mission,” says Azeez Amida, President of Showtime Flag Football.
“Flag football should not be an exclusive sport. Our goal is to bring it to every corner, every community—starting right here, in the streets. The response in Ogba confirmed what we’ve always believed: Nigerians are ready. And with each edition of Showtime Streetz, we’re laying the foundation not just for players, but for a national movement.”
Why This Matters
New Audiences: Street activations introduce the sport to those who’ve never had access.
Community Roots: Building a strong base at the grassroots, block by block.
Cultural Shift: Flag football is no longer niche—it’s becoming a part of everyday Nigerian life.
Ogba was just the beginning.
Next stop: Ajegunle. And from there, Showtime is taking the magic of flag football across Lagos and beyond.
With this approach, Showtime Flag Football isn’t just growing the game—they’re revolutionizing it from the ground up
