Ikan Sports continued their impressive run in the Showtime Flag Football SXIII, securing back-to-back wins with a commanding 40-14 victory over Alpha Sports on Sunday at the Showtime Arena in Lekki.
After the game, team leader Utibe Ayi attributed their newfound form to hard work, strategy, and unity among the players.

“We’re going to the championship, that’s what it is,” Ayi told Sports247 after the win.
“Last season, my team wasn’t this good. But this year, we’re better. We’ve put in more work, improved our strategy, and everyone is more focused.”
Despite fielding a roster largely made up of rookies, Ikan Sports have shown remarkable improvement. According to Ayi, the transformation comes from teaching both offense and defense with more tactical depth, while also building a stronger bond within the squad.
“Almost everyone on my team is a rookie, but we’ve built a solid structure. We’re more united and everybody is playing for each other.”
” That’s the big difference compared to last season when it felt like just a bunch of individuals playing,” he explained.
The back-to-back victories have now positioned Ikan Sports as genuine contenders for the championship playoffs, a goal Ayi is confident they can achieve.
“By God’s grace, we’re making the championship,” he said with conviction.
With their momentum building, Ikan Sports will be a team to watch as the Showtime Flag Football SXIII season progresses.
