The match, played under high tension at Showtime Arena, carried massive stakes:
Win, and Ikan were in. Lose, and the Lekki Braves would snatch the final playoff slot.
For most of the first half, it appeared to be Braves’ day. They controlled possession, executed clean routes, and forced early mistakes from Ikan Sports. The Braves’ sideline was buzzing with confidence as they looked poised to complete the upset and book their postseason berth.
But the second half delivered a storyline that will be remembered for years.
Ikan Sports came out with renewed intensity, tightening their defense and unleashing a fast, disciplined offense that left the Braves scrambling. A pair of deep plays shifted the momentum completely, and once Ikan grabbed the lead, they refused to let go.
By the final whistle, the comeback was complete — 30–21, and with it, Ikan Sports officially earned the last Wild Card place.
The defeat ends the Braves’ hopes of postseason football, despite their spirited performance throughout the encounter. They finish outside the playoff picture after showing clear improvement in the second half of the season.
Ikan, on the other hand, will now join the Raptors, Rebels, and Panthers in the Wild Card round, where the battle for two semifinal spots begins.
With LA Knights and Warriors already locked into the top two positions, the playoff bracket is now officially set, and the road to the Showtime Bowl only gets hotter from here.
