Calm, confident, and full of conviction, Jimmie Akinsola, the inspirational leader of the Lagos Athletic Knights, has declared that this season is driven by one mission — winning the league.
Akinsola, a great leader with a wealth of experience, guided his side to a crucial 19–7 victory over the Lagos Raptors in Week 3 of the Showtime Bowl Series XIII, a result that kept the Knights among the league’s top contenders.

Speaking with Sports247 after the match, Akinsola reflected on his team’s determination and unity, emphasizing the importance of focus and belief as the season progresses.
“We came into this season with one word — we must win the league,” Akinsola said. “We must never get distracted. It’s one game at a time. We talked to ourselves when we discovered that we were missing it, but we remain united and in one accord.”
Last season, the Lagos Athletic Knights dominated the regular season, winning all their games before narrowly losing in the championship final — a setback that continues to fuel their hunger for redemption.
“Last season, we won all our games but lost the player final,” Akinsola recalled. “This season, that history is not going to repeat itself.”
Under Akinsola’s steady leadership, the Knights have become one of the most organized and composed teams in the league, combining tactical discipline with mental strength. Their recent performance reinforces the belief that the Showtime Bowl Series XIII title race is far from over — and the Knights are firmly in it.
For Jimmie Akinsola and the Lagos Athletic Knights, this season isn’t about revenge. It’s about finishing what they started — and proving they belong at the very top.
