The chairman of Nigeria’s National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko has highlighted what he referred to as positive implications from the Super Falcons’ conquest of this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Sports247 reports.
The former chairman of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) acknowledged that achieving a 10th conquest of the competition was a remarkable feat, but added that the bigger impact is its motivation for all female youths in Nigeria, the value of unity in the country and boosting its economic development.

Sports247 reports further that, as reactions and counter-reactions continue trailing the Falcons’ heroic come-from-behind 3-2 victory over hosts Morocco during Saturday’s final in Rabat, Dikko opined that the players won more than just the WAFCON 2024 trophy.
The NSC’s top shot added, “You have not only won a title, you have won our hearts. In doing so, you have written your names in gold.
“Your performance reminds every Nigerian girl that, with courage, commitment and hard work, there’s nothing she cannot achieve.”
He then spoke about the broader picture as it reflects Nigeria’s strength as a united country, with a view that things would get better across the nation once everyone looks in the same direction.
“To all Nigerians, let this victory rekindle our hope and remind us that, when we unite, we have a common goal and we are unstoppable.
“As we celebrate this remarkable moment, we are also reminded again that sports remain one of the most effective tools to promote unity, national cohesion and indeed drive the economy,” Dikko affirmed.
